Mark Bader

Hello, I’m a Director of Photography specialising in documentary-led storytelling, with a background in stills photography. I’ve photographed sensitive, real-world stories for broadcasters and platforms including Netflix, BBC, Apple TV, Channel 4 and Channel 5, as well as for charities such as the NSPCC, Breast Cancer Now, Prostate Cancer UK and the Royal British Legion.

My work is grounded in documentary realism, elevated with a cinematic sensitivity, driven by people, purpose and trust. I have extensive experience working within safeguarding-heavy environments, collaborating closely with police forces, legal teams and support professionals, and filming with vulnerable contributors on complex and sensitive issues. I approach every project with empathy, discretion and a strong ethical framework, creating safe spaces that allow honest stories to emerge.

I shoot primarily on Canon cinema cameras and Fuji medium format and Leica for stills. Working with a trusted, low-impact crew, I remain agile and unobtrusive, adapting to the demands of sensitive documentary production while maintaining high cinematic standards.
